Description

It's a piece I did for the Buwan ng Wika (Filipino Month Celebration) since I'm supposed to help the teacher make an artwork.

I couldn't fit the complete idea of the Philippine Culture, but I placed in different bits and pieces.
The red, green, blue, yellow banners represent the fiesta in the Philippines, where people have fun together, praise the lord, go around a neighborhood to eat food with them, dance around in the festivities and have a get together with your friends.
The girl in blue is a Filipina wearing the filipiniana dress, it's a traditional costume worn by Filipino women during formal events or cultural festivities, there are many other versions of that dress, like the one there is called the meztisa filipiniana, then there's the maria clara dress.
The boy is wearing the Barong Tagalog, it's commonly worn during formal events, sometimes the boys wear it during weddings and such, other times, it's worn during important events, the politicians also wear that during inauguration events.
the drum you can see there is one of the ethnic instruments we have here, we use that in playing traditional songs, that is one of the examples of the ethnic instruments played in the time before.
The ink container and the feather, Quail. represents the Philippine Literature, from what I saw in TV, that's what was supposedly used by old writers in the Philippines from back then.
The paper with "Panatang Makabayan" written on it is the Patriotic Oath of the Philippines, recited as a promise to our land, to become a morally up right person, to love and serve our country, to do our duties, to help our fellow Filipinos and to work hard for the country.
The shape at the bottom is the philippine islands, featuring Luzon and a part of Visayas, I couldnt really feature mindanao because it's covered by the other stuff. it shows that because we are an archipelago, we are different from other people in the aspect that our cultures, languages and traditions can be different, but we are still the same in the thought that we are Filipinos, a group of kind, cheerful, united (even though we tend to be divided) and god fearing race.
The flag. it wouldnt be the philippines without it's symbol. the red for valor and the blood spilt for freedom and independence, the blue for patriotism and justice white for purity and peace. The white triangle represents equality and the Katipunan nationalist organization. The three stars represent the three main geographical regions of the Philippines: Luzon, Mindanao and Visayas. The sun represents independence and its eight rays represent the eight provinces that led the Philippine uprising against Spanish rule.
The coconut represents the simple things you can find in the Philippines. and yes, coconut milk tastes awesome~

Darn, this is a long post
